Camerawork

In the storyboard that will be produced the camera movement, angle and shot along with the editing will have to be stated in detail. Through the production period I will be coming up with an increasing amount of ideas that will enhance my music video.

I think the use of wide angle shots will run predominate in my music video so the setting is constantly identified and pays homage to the surroundings. The use of a large amounts of wide shots will work for my video as the main character isn't being portrayed as the artist which will mean he isn't associated with the band directly. I think that using the wide shot in my video a lot will help me to create a sense of distance being covered by the character.

The use of a tilted shot will be used to change the flow of the video. I want to do this as the music changes tempo. I think by doing this it will act as another signifier of the difference being experienced.

A significant shot I will accomplish will be the extreme close-up shot of a mobile phone with a GPS. I want to do this to include Goodwin's principle of voyeurism and screens within screens. I also want to bring in intertextuality with technology; by doing this I want to make the video more targeted towards the younger audience.

The eyeline match is another shot i would like to use alot in my video; I want to use it as another way of voyeurism so the audience can relate to the characters situation. It wll also offer another view of the settings.

Editing

Editing is also a crucial element to the music video and will be shown in the storyboard. I want most of my video to follow Goodwin's music analysis of matching music to visuals as I believe it creates continuity and flow. The combination of the music and editing will help establish the mood which in turns helps audiences understand the music video.

'Cha Cha' by Grinny Grandad, is the track i'll be using for my music video. The pop song includes frequent beats that I will use for fast cut montages; the effect of this will bring in more elements into a shorter space of time. With the fast cut montage edit, it will tempt audiences to re-watch the music video to pick apart and analyze shorter frames which may have not been understood initially.

Digitial effects are much more advanced and available for my use; however the 'Imovie' programme I am using still has its limitations. Split screens, colourisation and colour enhancing are the three main effects that are achieveable. I want to use the split screen predomidately in my music video as it will reduce the need to take jump shots with a limited number of cameras. With the use of split screens I can showcase both character in setting in a way that offers individuality within the same frame.

A shot i hope will be successful will include the slowing down of action within one section of a single frame. I think this idea can be very effective however it has been done before so i aim to multiply the effect three times so the single frame will have three sections with different speeds.

To pay notice to Goodwins music analysis of matching music to lyrics I could use direct words and phrases captured on the surroundings of the character. This would be a technique that amplifies the theory and would be another successful way of gaining the audiences attention. However I think that by using phrases could damage the reality of the video as the plauseable nature may be tampered with.
