My Target Audience

My music video will be targeted towards a younger female audience; more specifically girls between the age of 12 - 18. I think because of the less alarming and calm approach the music video has, it would be more suited to capture a female interest due to the lack of features that would generally attract a male such as voyeurism via a provocative female or the use of symbolism to imply wealth such as expensive cars and jewellery. This emphasis calmness is also provoked by the use of my locations which don't provoke a sense of any danger or enigma, I think by doing this it limits my target audience age to 18 as females older than that could be living more varied lifestyles which possibly not suit the themes explored in the video therefore would not want to attempt to watch it in the act of sharing empathy. I've made sure that my character is wearing clothes that would be typical of the 'average' teenage girl in an act of clearly addressing this part of society. Through the use of creating a character that portrays the typical teenage girl of the contemporary UK, I think it helps encourage people who are close to the perceived stereotype to continue watching the video.
The themes I wanted to create such as going on a journey and sharing love are themes that would generally not appeal to males and would capture the hearts of females more predominantly. I even think I could eliminate audiences who aren't fond on sweets due to the predominant reference's to the heart throbs container!
I think my target age would start at 12 because of the realism involved with the themes. With younger children the use of sweets in music videos would probably be anchored with more childlike far-fetched imagery; that of which I did not intend on creating.
